Netflix is gearing up to upend gender dynamics this spring with Ladies First, a high-concept satirical comedy starring Sacha Baron Cohen and Rosamund Pike. A month out from its release, Netflix has unveiled first-look images and the official trailer for a film that promises sharp, provocative comedy about power, privilege, and what happens when the tables are turned.
We've followed this project closely from the start—covering the original casting announcement that brought these two together, and the subsequent news that veteran performers including Richard E. Grant and Charles Dance had joined the ensemble.
When will Ladies First be on Netflix?
Netflix has confirmed a global release date of May 22, 2026 for Ladies First. The film joins a busy May slate that includes Swapped (May 1st) and Remarkably Bright Creatures (May 8th) on the English-language side, alongside My Dearest Señorita, a non-English title also dropping May 1st—bringing the total number of Netflix Original films scheduled for the month to four.
What is Ladies First about?
The film is an English-language reimagining of the 2018 French Netflix original Je Ne Suis Pas Un Homme Facile (I Am Not an Easy Man), written and directed by Eléonore Pourriat. The official logline reads:
"A ladies' man finds his life upended when he wakes up in a parallel world dominated by women. With the rules of engagement changed, he goes head-to-head with a fiery female colleague in a playful satire about what happens when the script is flipped."
Baron Cohen plays Damien Sachs, a self-satisfied charmer on the cusp of becoming CEO at a top advertising agency. When he wakes up in a matriarchal parallel world, his carefully constructed life unravels. The boardroom swagger that once defined him counts for nothing—and he finds himself in direct competition with the newly emboldened Alex Fox, played by Rosamund Pike.
