Netflix has secured the SVOD rights to You, Always, a sun-drenched Australian rom-com starring Adrian Grenier and Jessica De Gouw. The 93-minute film is slated to arrive on Netflix in most regions — including the US and UK — beginning May 1st, 2026.
The film comes from Jaggi Entertainment, the prolific Brisbane-based indie studio that has quietly become one of Netflix's go-to suppliers of feel-good Australian romance. The production company previously delivered Love is in the Air, This Little Love of Mine, and Romance on the Menu to the streamer. You, Always clocks in at 93 minutes and was shot on location in Far North Queensland.
Here is everything we know so far about You, Always coming to Netflix.
What is the plot of You, Always?
The film leans into the well-worn — and reliably crowd-pleasing — "best friends to lovers" setup, wrapped around a scenic love triangle. Here is the official synopsis:
"Dr. Jen Bell, a dedicated GP in Far North Queensland, juggles her career, motherhood, and volunteer work with Marine Search & Rescue, which she does alongside her best friend, Ethan. Hoping to take their bond further, Jen plans a romantic picnic—but, unaware of her feelings, Ethan spends the night gaming and unintentionally stands her up. Disheartened, Jen begins to let go of the idea of them.
Soon after, a chance encounter with her favorite author, Patrick, sweeps her into a whirlwind of adventures as she shows him around FNQ for inspiration for his new book. Meanwhile, Ethan meets Matilda—a warm, engaging woman he rescues during a callout. As Jen and Patrick grow closer, he proposes. Jen accepts, picturing a fresh start in Sydney. Shocked, Ethan finally confesses his feelings, but Jen insists it's too late. Matilda sees where Ethan's heart truly lies and chooses to walk away. Motivated by Jen's words, Ethan stops holding back and accepts the role of MSR Captain. On the day Jen is set to leave, doubt floods in—torn between the life she's chosen and the one she's planning to leave behind."

The screenplay was written by a trio of collaborators: Ansley Gordon, Yasmin Kassim (who also appears on screen), and Adam C. Sherer.
